The client’s intention was to create a living/dining/kitchen space whilst enjoying the benefits of incorporating the garden area into the scheme. To this end Cox Construction designed an oak timber framed structure supporting a hipped-end roof pitched against an existing gable. The ground floor structure was then demolished requiring the gable and first floor joists to be supported by means of engineered steel beams. The new extension, now enclosed with bi-fold doors which open on each elevation, was then fitted out with a kitchen designed by Moylans of Leigh.
