Thames Card Tech
Thames Card Technology of Rayleigh, one of the foremost producers of credit cards in the UK, approached us in 2004 to create a mezzanine floor of 650 sq. m., which would provide more factory space in their premises on the A127 Arterial Road. Working with Structural Engineers, M & E Consultants and co-ordinating the workforce on site, precision and care were of prime importance since several hundred thousands of pounds worth of equipment was located directly below the new floor area.
Several months in the planning, a flexible approach was required as the business continued working throughout. Starting preparatory work in November and working only at weekends, storage of materials for the construction process was a major issue due to their size and sheer number, however, the steel frame was erected in time for the pre-cast concrete floor to be placed just before Christmas. During the remainder of the shutdown, finishing trades were co-ordinated to enable Thames Card to take possession of the completed floor together with fully operational mechanical and electrical systems on their return in the New Year, on time and on budget.
